15 Mar 2007 - Scabies

Not much going on today, until about 2pm, when I got the call.
“Dave, you’re off to Bathurst Island – patient transport – two people with scabies to bring back to town. Don’t worry, quite safe, just don’t make any skin contact.
So I blast off. Pick up these rather two sad looking locals. I don’t remember the details, but something like 45kg for him, 35kg for her. Maybe I exaggerate. Probably lighter.
Throw down a sheet so they don’t sit on the seats, load them up and head off. The trip back was uneventful, as it either seems to be like that, or the complete opposite. On landing, the passengers are escorted off to hospital for treatment, and I get handed four things. Latex gloves, disinfectant swabs, Morteen and Beygon. Apparently that’s what they recommend down the hospital, for cleaning down the seats. The plane gets fumigated. Job done.
