03 Mar 2007 - Darwin day 4
A short sleep in this morning, which was well needed after yesterday.
STACKS of rain last night - the total since I've got here is probably more than I've seen in my life to date. Every time it starts to dump, I expect it to finish in 15 minutes, but it doesn't. As Angel, my niece, said when the rain stopped.
Angel - "It's going to rain again in a minute"
David (when it starts raining again) "How did you know that?"
Angel - "Because it always starts again"
Adelaide River has broken it's banks, and flooded the town. Jabiru and Oenpelli are also cut off, and the rain continues.I spent the afternoon looking for somewhere to stay. Places are very pricey, so the budget is going to be tight, but at least there are a couple of options, so disheartening, but not totally so. Tomorrow, I'll resume the search.
